My Blog Manifesto

by Caroline on March 5, 2012

When I was a little girl I loved Barbies. I had tons and tons. Naked all over my floor. Oddly enough, I never remember making lives for them. Maybe I would reenact some of the plot from Day’s of our Lives I had seen that week, but mostly I just like to dress them up, build them houses and especially cut their hair. I don’t like to pretend, just like to make things pretty.

So, I cant pretend I have ever loved blogging. BUT I love reading blogs and thinking of new designs to make mine pretty. Plus my mom blogs and my little sister is picking it up. I have had this blog for a few years because I have had dreams of starting my own business and have wanted to document my design work progress. Mostly all I have cared about is making it look pretty, like I did with my Barbies. So here I am, I dumbed down the design and got down to some business with myself. I have made a blog manifesto which is a public declaration of intentions, opinions, objectives, and motive. Here it goes…

I declare on my blog, By C. Jeanne, I will –

  • Embrace and be myself, but is not all about me – there are so many bloggers I adore. Even seeing start up bloggers I love their dedication and style. I want to not try to be as design savvy as ___ or successful as ____ or freaking awesome as _____ because frankly, that’s lame. Oh and I don’t need somewhere to ramble on about the “hardships” of being me. I already bug my mom enough.
  • Posting is not a chore or duty. It is a hobby. – I attended Blissdom this mast month and heard Erin Lochner (Design for Mankind) and Alli Worthington speak in the session “Not Monotizing Your Joy”. So maybe this is a joy. Not my job or obligating, but something I do because it makes me happy.
  • I won’t invest in tactics to gain more followers- unless they are genuine (though I’m not against the methods others use) again, not monotizing joy. no big deal right? I don’t care what you think of me…I’m such a rebel right?
  • No stress over grammar/ my writing style- Im not a writer, I know that. I don’t want to be, although I am tempted because I love reading good writers. My mom is one, sister another.

Okay that’s all. I have a couple of posts planed that I am excited for. How about that!

“These are Things” pink map

by Caroline on November 5, 2011

is this real? A pink and purple map? Two- three things I LOVE. I am loving that these are HAND SILKSCREENED! I found them while exploring what having a BigCartel might be like. They have some really cool stuff but this one made me drool.
